Daniel Parker

Professional Experience: 

Mr. Parker serves as the Operations and Facility Manager for the Fermentation Sciences facility at Appalachian State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Environmental Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a Master of Science in Molecular Biology, where his graduate research focused on fungal-plant interactions.

Prior to joining the Fermentation Sciences program, Mr. Parker taught biology and chemistry laboratory courses at Appalachian State and managed the Department of Chemistry stockroom. In his current role, he oversees the operation of the university's fermentation facilities, supporting instruction, research, and outreach in brewing, winemaking, distillation, and food fermentations. He works closely with students, faculty, and industry partners to provide hands-on educational experiences and collaborative research opportunities.

In addition, Mr. Parker manages the Enology and Craft Beverage Laboratory, which provides chemical, microbiological, and sensory analysis services for regional craft beverage producers. The laboratory partners with wineries, vineyards, breweries, distilleries, cideries, kombucha producers, hop growers, and barley producers to support quality assurance, product development, and industry innovation throughout the region.

Beyond his work at Appalachian State, Mr. Parker serves as Director of Fundraising for Ivory Tower, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing research, education, and workforce development in the field of fermentation sciences.
